So why EnglishNightingale?
Joanna was the type of child who sang before she could talk and has
been doing so ever since. On becoming a Girl Guide she became a member
of the Nightingale patrol to which the standard joke was that the
company now had a Nightingale who could sing!
The Sweedish Nightingale was the Soprano Jenny Lind, and with songs like A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square and Joanna’s English nationality, EnglishNightingale was born.
